Ugh.. Back again!

So we went to Monticello for Memorial day weekend, and I'm so bummed to be back home! We had a really great time! The weather was pretty crappy. It was a blizzard one of the days, and the rest it was either rainy, extremely windy, or both! Sunday was actually beautiful. We went to sacrament meeting and then went with Tyler's parents to the lake near their house. We took their new camp trailer (sooooo nice!) and had lunch there and went fishing. We bought all new fishing poles (our old ones were pretty trashed!) We bought Cameron a Lightning McQueen pole, and he loved it! He (in my unbias opinion) did pretty amazing for a almost 4 year old! The first day we fished (with snow on the ground might I add), we were there long enough to cast ONE time! Hahaha.. Lucky for us, that lake is very well stocked, and he caught a fish on his first and only cast of the day! It was just a great time all around. We played a game (one of our favorites) called Compatibilty with Mike and Julie and we laughed sooo hard. So yes, I'm sad to be back into 'the real world' now. Alexis cried so hard last night trying to go to sleep that she threw up. And I didn't know it until this morning. So I'm ALREADY behind on laundry, and dishes. UGH! And I left the house 100% spotless. ALL the laundry was done, floors clean, etc. Oh well. That's life, right? Well, life as a mom.

I was happy to have finished my book I've been trying to read for about a month now! "The Host" was a great book! It was pretty slow; I had a difficult time getting into it like the "Twilight" series. It wasn't until the last, oh, 30 pages where I could NOT put it down! Overall, I loved it. I laughed, I cried (or shoud I say bawled like a baby!). And can I just say: Edward and Jacob combined are NOTHING compared to IAN! I LOVE IAN! =) I'll post Monticello pictures another time. Gotta go clean some more. AHHHH!!!

Oh well... Life isn't fair!

I hate the radio. I never listen to the radio. I get so tired of hearing the same songs (usually ones I hate) over and over again. HOWEVER: Tyler called me early Monday morning and told me that Mix 107.9 was having a contest. To fly the winner to Hawaii. To see Jason Mraz. Jason. Mraz. JASON MRAZ! For any of you who do not know this about me: I loooooooove Jason Mraz! It all started about 4 years ago. Yeah, he had that annoying song on the radio called "The remedy". I actually used to listen to the radio back then. And win stuff. A lot. So I won tickets to see him at Kingsbury Hall. We didn't really want to go: The remedy was the only song we were familiar with and we strongly disliked it. We were supposed to go to a funeral for a long lost relative of Tyler's. The day of the concert/funeral came, and there was a HUGE snow storm. The funeral was quite a drive and Tyler's mom told us not to come because of the bad weather. With nothing else to do, we drove to Kingsbury Hall expecting nothing special from the concert. Boy am I glad it snowed that day. The conert was AMAZING. Well, that's an understatement. All around us, people are singing along to these songs we've never heard. I kept thinking, 'How do they know all these songs?!' Jason Mraz uses scat in many of his songs, and that is one thing really caught our interest. I've never really liked anyone singing scat before, but Jason is so talented and hits ALL the notes, that it sounds incredible. He is an amazing artist who is just as good live as on the radio. (Better, really, because he improvises and changes things a lot!) Anyways, I tried, unsuccessfully, for 4 days now to win the contest. No such luck! Another girl won just this morning. She gets to fly (for free) to Hawaii to see Jason Mraz in concert. So that's why I say, 'Life isn't fair!' =) Anyways, this is Jason's semi-new song called, "I'm yours". Take a listen, er watch, and let me know what you think! Oh, and the drummer/back up singer is Toca Rivera. We think he's amazing too!

Knock, knock

Cameron had his friend, Jay, over for a play date today. They sat down for lunch and Jay proceeds to tell a 'knock knock' joke.

Jay: Knock, Knock!

Cameron: (blank stare)

Jay: Knock, Knock!

(Can you tell Cameron has no older siblings?!)

Jamy: Cameron, when Jay says, 'knock knock', then you say 'who's there?'

Cameron: Who's there!

Jamy: You need to wait until he says, 'knock knock'. Go ahead Jay.

Jay: Knock, Knock!

Cameron: Who's there! (excited, now that's he's catching on to this cool new game)

Jay: Blooppie!

Cameron & Jay: (laugh hysterically)

A FEW MINUTES LATER

Cameron: Knock, Knock!

Jay: Who's there?

Cameron: (silence)

Jay: Ju-ju

Cameron: choo-choo!

Jay: no. Ju-ju

Cameron: Choo-choo.

Jay: No! Ju-ju

Anyways! On to other stuff. On Monday night, we had some friends over for dinner. Blast from the past! My friend Ross, and his wife Susie were in town for conference. I've been friends with Ross for, oh, about 10 years? He's one of my greatest friends. Kyla also came. Who I've also been friends with for a little longer than that! We all grew up in the same ward. Ross' wife Susie, was actually Kyla's 1st roomate at BYU! Okay, nobody cares, but I think it's cool! So we all just hung out and talked. Tyler and Susie went to bed, and at about midnight, Kyla, Ross and I start thinking, 'hmmm.. maybe we should go to bed?' Do we? Of course not. We haven't all been together in about 7 years. So wen stayed up and talked. And talked. And talked. AND TALKED! At about 6:30 A.M. Kyla needs to leave so she can get back to provo and give her sister the car that they share! I realize I will be lucky to get an hour's sleep before my kids wake up and I have to start another 'mommy' day. Ross has to drive back to California that next day on what little sleep he might get. So at 6:30, I climb into bed, exhausted. I did get about an hour's sleep! It didn't even matter. We had a BLAST! We talked about EVERYTHING. Good 'ol times. People we haven't seen in years. People we have seen. School. Work. Parenthood. Relationships. The church. Money. Families. You name it, I think we covered it! Anyways, here's some pictures from our late night! (At about 6:20 A.M!)

Randomness

Lots of topics today. My friend Kacie came a few weeks ago from Boston. I haven't seen her in about 7 years. We had a blast! We stayed at Hampton Inn (I think?!) one night so we could be girls and chat all night! (Or until 2 a.m.) Plus have pillow fights in our underwear. What would a girls' night out be without that! We saw Juno which I've decided is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It is pretty crude at parts, and I hate to justify, but it's more real life situations. As opposed to Will Ferrell "let's be crude just to be crude and make more money". Anyways, the songs are FANTASTIC. But beyond that, I think it's some of the best acting I've EVER seen. (that includes all the old movies I love and adore.) Anyways, it was sooo fun to have Kacie visit. The kids ADORED her! Cameron was constantly talking to her and wanting to sit by her and sleep by her. It was really cute!













Last weekend Tyler and I and the kids had a little 'weekend getaway'. We stayed at the Raddison downtown for 2 nights. The first night we met up with Adam and Nisha and went out to eat and then went swimming.








It was fun, except I wish we had floaties for Cameron's arms and one of these for Alexis. I was so excited to 'swim' and somehow forgot we have 2 children who can't swim. So we each had one and never got to swim! Oh well. It was still nice to be in the water. The next day we went to the Natural History Museum. Which yes, was in fact as boring as it sounds! I'm really not interested in any kind of history. We thought there would be more 'dinosaur' stuff. There was some, but nothing like the dino museum at Thanksgiving point. Cameron still had fun. Sort of.






Then we went to the Clark planetarium. Tyler, Cameron and I did a free exhibit that is similar to walking on the moon. They hook you up to what looks like a weights machine and adjust your weight to what it would be on the moon. Then you're strapped into a harness and can jump around. It was pretty cool! It was adventurous for me, being the wimp I am. I enjoyed it because when you jump, you come down only as fast as you went up. I liked having that kind of control! Anyways, Tyler and I were just going to do it. Cameron isn't too brave about those kinds of things. Or hasn't been in the past. After watching several people (including us) he said he wanted to try. We were sure the minute he got buckled into the harness he would freak out and not want to do it anymore. Au contraire! He was so excited. He jumped pretty high and wasn't even scared. (More than I can say for myself. Pretty pathetic, huh?) I was sooo proud of him!






We had lunch at the Gateway. Then we went to the Aquarium. Cameron touched the sting rays (again, something he's ALWAYS been too afraid to try in the past) and thought it was the coolest thing. His favorite part, of course, was the sharks. We were lucky enough to be there when they were having a special rainforest exhibit. We went into another room where they brought out a Macaw, a parrot, a tarantula (sp?) a Madagascar dung beetle, and a few more things.






We left the hotel Sunday morning, ran home to change for church and open baskets from the Easter bunny, went to church, came home to change, and go to my sister's for Easter! The kids had an easter egg hunt in my Sister's yard and their neighbor's yard. We had tons of eggs and Tyler and Chris found some great hiding places!







Monday, I was cleaning and doing laundry. Trying to catch up from being gone, and also getting ready for Amy to come over the following day. I had just got home from the grocery store when Amy called and wanted to know if I could meet her at the mall. Tyler was sweet enough to watch the kids so I could go play! It is always a fantastic treat to hang out with Amy WITHOUT KIDS! The next day she came over with the whole fam. It was fun to hang out with John for a bit since I usually only get to see him for about 30 minutes every 6 months or so! The kids had fun playing together and did quite well for two 3-year-olds. But they were still cranky at times. Alexis was NOT happy unless someone was holding her and Cameron and Gwen would get bored. We were so happy we had a least a few hours the day before to hangout with no distractions! Don't have the pictures uploaded from the kids yet. I will soon though!

Whew! Anyways, that's been our life. And in between all this, Tyler's been busy with cabinet jobs. I'd love to go to a movie tonight, but Tyler's too busy! We're DYING to see '21'. It comes out in theater today. This is me and Tyler's kind of movie. Check out the trailer and let me know if it's the kind of movie you like. Can't wait to see it!

Okay, next order of business. I'm trying to decide what song to sing for the audition. It's supposed to be 'upbeat'. The only song I can think of is 'The wizard and I' from Wicked. Is that too cliche, though? I can't be trusted with this decision anymore. I've been thinking about it too much! Any suggestions?
