Be honest...

I know you all took some of your kids' Halloween candy. What is your favorite? I was at a neighbors house chatting and she said her 'Airheads' were gone like THAT! (I snapped my fingers, by the way) I was shocked! Airheads? Puh-lease! What about the chocolate? I couldn't believe that kids were chosing chewy, slimy, gooey watermelon and other artificial flavors over CHOCOLATE! So now I'm curious. What's your favorite (halloween) candy? Oh, and I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

a picture is worth 1000 words

Instead of explaining all the stuff we've been up to, I thought I'd just show you!

BubbleShare: Share photos - Craft Ideas

This last picture is pretty random, I know. I was at Nordstroms with my MIL and this girl was in front of us in line. I had to hold back from laughing out loud when I saw this bag! I mean, could those zippers be any bigger?!

Sad news again

My dearest friend Amy, had a death in her family yesterday. Her brother, Adam, passed away. He had had a benign brain tumor for the past 9 years. It was too risky to operate on, so they just checked it every 6 months to make sure it wasn't getting any bigger. He had to deal with daily seizures, even on medication, because of the tumor. Last thursday, he had a terrible migraine. He went into the ER and it all went downhill from there. They found out that the tumor had grown (a LOT) and turned cancerous. He ended up going into a coma, having 2 strokes, emergency brain surgery, on full life support, etc. So after doing testing to see if there was any brain activity, they took him off life support. Anyways, I just felt I needed to post this. Adam was great. He was always so kind to me and fun to be around. Granted, Amy, I wasn't his sister. =) But being around her brothers always made me with I would have had older brothers. I just saw him last week and we were joking around and talking. I'm so sad for the family's loss, but I'm so relieved he doesn't have to deal with this anymore. He's at peace now. We'll miss you, Adam.

Picture Tag

I was tagged by Shanna. The game goes like this – go to your picture files, find the 4th folder and pick the 4th picture in it. Post the picture and tell a little about it.

I am holding my nephew, Ashton, at my mom's house. He was about 2 months old, I think. What's with my terrible posture?!

Now I tag

Ross
Andrea
Helen
Tiffany

And maybe tomorrow I'll post why in heaven's name I'm blogging at 2:27 a.m. Ugh...

Shiner

I went to pick Cameron up from pre-school yesterday and was greeted by his teacher, who looked a bit worried. She informed me that Cameron was punched in the face! She gauged my exprsesion very carefully, but was probably unprepared for my response. I started to laugh. Why? I don't know. He came running happily to me as soon as he saw me (before his teacher even told me of the incident. I knew he was fine. Maybe that's why I wasn't too concerned. She explained that Cameron and an autistic boy in his class were running for the same chair at snack time. The other boy decided that, come what may, he was sitting there! So he punched him in the eye! I guess it was commical because they're FOUR! And I can see hitting, or pushing, but punching in the eye? It just reminded me of something that would occur in junior high! I asked if Cameron cried and they said he did a tiny bit. I laughed again, and said, "Well, now you know why. Because we don't make a big deal when he gets hurt." Then I felt I should add, "And that's probably why he'll grow up dysfunctional!" They put ice on it, and you can hardly see the bruise under his eye. I tried taking a picture of his eye, and it doesn't even SHOW a bruise. So when we were walking home, I asked him, "What did it make you feel when he punched you?" 'Sad.' "Did it hurt?" 'Yeah. Reeealllly bad.' "When he punched you, did you punch him back?" 'Nooooooooooooo...' "And how did that make Heavenly Father feel?" 'Soooooooo happy!' I was glad he was mature (or stunned!) enough not to hit back. Never know what a day at preschool will bring!

Decisions, decisions...

Alexis cried herself back to sleep after about 40 minutes. AND STAYED ASLEEP! For only the 3rd time (EVER) she woke up playing and talking to herself, instead of crying. WOW! What a great way to start the day! Anyways, Cameron is at school, Alexis is napping, and my house is (almost) spotless!!! So, I considered doing Cameron's laundry for him (I make him do it all himself) and then remembered how I NEVER have ME time. So I've been reading "Harry Potter". I'm really starting to enjoy it! Especially when I can get through more than 1 paragraph before being interupted!

Haven't we already done this?

Phase 2 of letting Alexis cry herself to sleep. I mean, cry herself back to sleep. She goes to sleep fine. It's about 3 hrs. after she's asleep that she wakes up screaming. And when I say screaming? I'm not exaggerating. And I don't mean like a scream or two in between the crying. Blood curdling screams! And. She. Won't. STOP! This girl is the most persistant human I've ever encountered! I'm sure one day it will be a good quality to have, but for now it's just a pain in the BUTT! Anyways, she had her 15 mo. check up today and I explained to her doctor. She told me to still have her 'cry it out'. So here I am. And there she is. In her crib. Crying. Luckily not screaming this time. And it's been 30 minutes. And there's no sign of stopping.

UPDATE: As SOON as I published this, she starts with the screaming. Cursed? Sometimes you gotta wonder...

Here we go!

Cameron asks a lot of questions. I guess I'm the one that started it. Whenever we're reading a book, if we come to a word I think he might not know, I ask him. Then I explain what that word means. So we're reading the scriptures last night and this is how it goes. (Mosiah 11:2) "For behold, he did not keep the commandements of God, but he did walk after the desires of his own heart. And he had many wives and concubines-" Cameron: "What's concubines?" Insert laugh from me and Tyler here. Tyler: "Um...." Now this would have been a lot easier to explain had we had the 'sex' talk with him. But he hasn't asked so we haven't gone there. Me: "Um, it's girls that do naughty things." continued "...Yea, and they did commit whoredoms-" Cameron: "What's whoredoms?" Insert even bigger laugh here. Tyler: "It's those naughty things that those girls do" Thank heavens Cameron was happy with those answers! Let's have the basic sex talk before we delve into that. Hahahaha

So yesterday, Tyler said, "Remember that word Cameron used to say? Eepths? What did it mean?" We thought and thought and then reffered to our word document that explains Cameron's pronunciations for words and then what the word actually IS! (Big difference as you will soon see) So I looked it up and it was 'octopus'! So I thought I'd list all the words he said here. It was funny to read through them and think that our well speaking 4-yr. old used to say stuff like this.

Pronunciation: Actual word!

Knee Again
Heen Hungry
Bot Dropped
Doe-tee Donut
Mong Grandma
Mam Banana
Aps Animals
Dotcher Helicopter
Eepths Octopus
Eep Help
Beece Blanket
Thlo-thlo Window
Fawf Waffle
Sewou Cereal
Gakes Thanks
Wulh-kuh You’re Welcome
Wee-lope Ribbit (like a frog)
Backseat Basket

And then a bit later it became this:

TORet Turtle
Mells Smell
MYsoul Smile
CARE-see Scary
Opper-dotcher Helicopter
Foke Smoke (this one was scary! haha)
Baksee Basket
Fwippers Slippers
OrinGEES Oranges
BIRlees Birdies
Way puck Wake up
Pray-a-sent President
Go-er Girl
or
Goy-ler

So this post is just random, but when I saw 'Fawf' it made me think of the 'Waffle Dance' Cameron used to do. The other boy is a Parker, a boy I used to babysit. Anyways, this was shortly after Cameron's eye surgery so that's why his eye looks a little funny.

Bittersweet

Today was McKensie's funeral. I went to the viewing and just lost it! I don't know why I was such a wreck, but I was. So I gave Tiffany's mom, Pam, a big hug, and then got to see Tiffany. I miss her so much! I bawled and told her I was sorry for her loss. I explained that there was no way I would make it through the funeral in one piece, and as usual, she was understanding and told me it was fine if I left. I worried I would regret it later in the day, but I haven't. It was good that I left. I'm no good in those situations. REALLY not good. Anyways, it was FANTASTIC seeing Tiffany: even though it's a sad time, and I was bawling the whole time!

That's me. How's everyone else's weekend?!

How un-lady like

Alexis is so funny. She must take after me. No, not because I think I'M funny, but because I am un-lady like. I burp, toot, sneeze very loudly. I don't do it in restaurants, or at church, or any other respectable place. So what's the big deal then? I don't care. Anyways, Alexis does the same kind of things. She makes the funniest sounds and noises. She laughs whenever she toots or burps, and has a very un-lady like laugh. If you haven't had the privealge of hearing it, I'll record it sometime. Everyone should hear it at least once. But that's for another time. I thought today I'd record her 'growling'. Can you tell she has a brother? Mostly she does this while waving a sword at you. Yes, you read right. A sword. Or anything pointy like a sword (such as a drum stick). So watch and enjoy!

Can't stop laughing!!!

Tyler and I watched a movie that I CANNOT believe I've never seen before.

ONE CRAZY SUMMER!

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. And so often! Leave to a GREAT 80's movie to have us rolling on the floor and high-fiving each other (multiple times). Yeah, need I say it again? We're dorks.

Now, "Better off Dead" has been one of my favorites for many years now. But this was seriously just as good. My favorite part? It reminded me of all those SNL cliques that you see in different movies. Chris Farley & David Spade. Adam Sandler & Norm MacDonald (I LOVE YOU!). Phil Hartman & Mike Meyers. Steve Martin & Eddie Murphy. You get the picture. In "One crazy summer" it has "Ricky's mom" from "Better off dead", the old lady from "Police Academy", the nerd from "Better off dead", and much much more! Tyler's favorite actor in the show was, none other than, Bob Goldthwait. It didn't matter what came out of his mouth, Tyler would laugh so hard! I was going to put my favorite quotes on, but don't wanna ruin it for anyone who might see it. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind and just ruin it anyways.

God be with you till we meet again...

My dear friend Tiffany's daughter, McKensie died today.

"She faded silently in the night until her spirit finally left her body at 5:12 am. It was a peaceful experience for us all. She has eternally impacted our lives for good. We are so grateful to have had the pleasure of her company in this life. We look forward to a joyful reunion with her at some point in the future."

This was what was posted on their blog. (Click here to read her story) Their strength inspires me. McKensie battled with Leukemia for the past 6 months. I am so heartbroken for their loss, yet so happy she is free from pain and with our Father in Heaven once again. God bless you, dear friends.

A day in my life

So I got this forward from Amy about 2 years ago. I found it and thought it was too perfect not to post.

"Recently, I was diagnosed with C.A.A.D.D. - Child Activated
Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:
I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the basement, I notice
that there are cheerios all over the floor and my house keys are in
the cereal bowl.

I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my
keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trashcan under the
counter, and notice that the trashcan is full. So, I decide to take
out the trash.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take
out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check
book off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my
extra checks are in my desk in the office, so I go to my desk where
I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I decide I should put the sippy cup in the refrigerator to
keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup a plant on the
counter catches my eye--it needs to be watered. I set the sippy cup
on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching
for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom,
but first I'm going to water the plants. I set the wipes back down,
fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, left
on the kitchen table.

I realize that when I go to watch TV, I will be looking for the
remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I
decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll
water the plants. I splash some water on the plant, but most of it
spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper
towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to
do.

At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't
paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the
plants aren't watered, there is still only one check in my check
book, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don't
remember what I did with my keys. Then when I try to figure out why
nothing got done today. I'm really baffled because I know I was busy
all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help
for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. Don't laugh--if this isn't you yet, your day is coming."

Honorable mentions

I feel like I've seen SO many crappy movies lately, including Iron Man. Which I was sooooooo excited to see! BOO! Anyways, I had to post and give "2 enthusiastic thumbs up" for the following.

Hocus Pocus- Can you believe I've never seen this movie? It was surprisingly funny! I really don't like Bette Midler, but she was so hilarious in this movie. They couldn't have cast better.

Labyrinth- Okay, I'd never seen this one either! I laughed WAY more than I thought I would. And Cameron really enjoyed it too. His favorite part was those red puppets that kept taking their heads off. He thought their song/dance was amusing.

Forbidden Kingdom- We'd been looking forward to this movie for a while now. It was nothing like I expected, it contained some of my biggest pet peeves about movies, the opening credits were a little bizarre (which yes, is a big deal to me). HOWEVER I absolutely loved this movie! I had goosebumps at the end (I know, I'm such a nerd) and it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning! Not many movies can do that for me.

I guess I should mention Made Of Honor. I did laugh quite a bit. But I'm so sick of everything being soooo crude! C'est la vie...

Oh, and a great big THANKS to Helen for letting me borrow #1 & #2. I have a feeling most of her movies are going to become my fav's!

Help!

I need a new mop. I've broke the last two I've had in the past month! (Nevermind how I broke them...) I found two on Amazon (I LOVE AMAZON!) with great reviews. So check out the links and let me know which you think would work best on my BIG kitchen floor!

Deep Thoughts...

by Jack Handey.

If you're not familiar with Jack Handey (as if those people exist) just know that the quotes aren't supposed to make sense. They are usually just stupid, or mean, or both. But hey? That's SNL for you. Here's some of my fav's.

"How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? How about the pillow? It has more feathers than the dove, and it doesn't have that dangerous beak."

“I can picture in my mind a world without war. A world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they’d never expect it.”

"Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess was why several of us died of tuberculosis."

“If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.”

*“If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.”

“When I found the skull in the woods, the first thing I did was call the police. But then I got curious about it. I picked it up, and started wondering who this person was, and why he had deer horns.”

“To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.”

(Hahaha, I'm laughing so hard right now! Oh and don't feel bad if you hate these. They're not for everybody)

“If you're a cowboy and you're dragging a guy behind your horse, I bet it would really make you mad if you looked back and the guy was reading a magazine.”

"As a young boy, when you get splashed by a mud puddle on the way to school, you wonder if you should go home and change, but be late for school, or go to school the way you are; dirty and soaking wet. Well, while he tried to decide, I drove by and splashed him again."

"If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But only if you're serious about adopting the vulture."

"If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong, though. It's Hambone."

"He was the kind of man who was not ashamed to show affection. I guess that's what I hated about him."

"I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people."

Whew!

I've been trying to write this post for over a week now. What can I say? Life just gets busy. So when Tyler was gone hunting for a week, we had ourselves some fun! We really lucked out that there were so many things to do that week for CHEAP! 1st we went and got free ice cream, courtesty of Coldstone. After eating at IHOP (man, I hate that place). I thought we could all use a night out and my kids are so picky, I figured I couldn't go wrong with pancakes! Later that week we went to Cornbellys for only $1 a person! Thanks again, Nisha, for the heads up! We went with Tammy, Dawson, and Alyssa. We all had an amazing time. There was stuff for all ages, so even Alexis and Alyssa had fun! And if you don't believe how excited Cameron was? Just watch this video:

Then, as customers of Allstate, there was a customer appreciation day at Scera park. There were a few games, great food, the huge park that's right there, and tethered hot air balloon rides! We hardly went high at all and my knuckles were white I'm sure. I'm such a chicken. I feel so bad for Tyler sometimes! I must not be very fun. The first pictures are of Cameron being a cat. Yes, you read right. A cat. He got the idea from Dawson, who taught Cameron to be his pet! I personally love when CAmenro is a cat because it's suddenly very quiet around the house. Why, you ask? "Well, cats can't talk." "If you want a snack, say 'meow, meow'" Yeah, why does he have cereal on his face? "Oh, cats don't have hands to wipe off their faces, so they have to use their tongues to get the food off" Man, I'm so mean!

The last pictures are of Cameron and his bunny: Cameron. And Cameron #2 (the bunny) is also 4 yrs. old! This is the bunny he got from the sweetest nurse ever, when Cameron was taken to ER at 12:45 am about a month ago. He was having breathing problems (croup? who knows...) and I wasn't about to drive him myself! Anyways, after riding in an ambulance (I'm sure everyone's heard the story from Cameron) we waited in the ER for a few hours. The nurse fell in love with Cameron and brought him said bunny. He's never been so attached to anything in his life. Anyways, these pictures are Cameron teaching Cameron #2 to fold his arms during the prayer. I just love it!
